Shortcuts to Finding a Profitable Domain Name

Picking a domain name is not a difficult or time consuming project if you know a few shortcuts. If you don't, then it can be a frustrating experience. Your first step should be to do a little brainstorming for keywords that describe what your website will be about. To make the most of this brainstorming session, open up a word editor. It can be as simple as the Notepad program in Windows. Stashing the words and phrases in notepad will save time later, when you copy and paste the file into the search box at a domain registrar site. We will get into that shortcut a little later. Just stick with me...

So, let's get down to business... Head on over to Notepad and start typing one idea per line. You don't need to include the .com in each phrase . Use my example below. Notice that I have done some natural brainstorming for ideas on a website for online games. Any of these terms could be a potential name for your site. Picture for instance adding a .com to the last term on the page, "free game downloads". A dot com should be your first choice for your website as it gives it more credibility.

Notepad File:

shooting games online

free online games

download free games

play free online games

online flash games

download games

play online games

flash games

fun games

free flash games

free game downloads

Now, comes the fun part...

Go to any domain name seller/registrar website. We know that some of these potential names in the Notepad file are already taken, but which ones? The key to cutting down the time it takes to eliminate the taken ones and ferret out the available ones is this: rather than search by typing a term in the domain name search box one at a time, drop down to where you see the link for "Bulk Registration". Select ALL the terms in your notepad file, copy and paste them into the bulk registration area which can hold up to 500 names at one time, and check the .com box to the right.

If the name is already taken, then the site will return a series of error message like this:

ERROR: ONLINEADVENTUREGAMES.COM is unavailable and has been removed.

ERROR: WEBGAMES.COM is unavailable and has been removed.

ERROR: ONLINEACTIONGAMES.COM is unavailable and has been removed.

ERROR: RACINGGAMESONLINE.COM is unavailable and has been removed.

The error messages will be above the search box and whatever is still left inside the search box, will be fair game for you to pick from for your new domain name!....choose the one you like best, exit out of the bulk registration area and type that one name into the domain name search box, knowing that this time, it will be approved and you can complete the transaction and purchase your new domain name.

My winner was: gameplayerheaven.com

To your success!
